American modernist drawing on paper of houses in a landscape in Hook Mountian, New York by German / American artist Oscar Florianus Bluemner, (1867-1938). Titled ‘Hook Mountain, Nov 4 – 20’. Oscar Bluemner was an important early American modernist artist active mainly in New York and Massachusetts. Bluemner was a prolific artist constantly sketching and considering potential subjects, often writing on the backs and fronts of sketches often noting the colors he saw. This work, a sketch of a buildings in a landscape is a charcoal drawing on paper and is monogrammed lower left, along with the title and date. Housed in a vintage frame under non-glare UV plexiglass with an acid free mat. It measures 4.5″ x 7″ sight size, and 12″ x 14″ x 2″ overall.
