Important oil painting on Canvas by Xavier Gonzales.
Xavier Gonzalez. (1898-1993), was born in Spain, and worked most of his life in the United States. He studied in many place around the world including Mexico City, Paris, and the Far East.
Gonzalez was an early action painter, creating works as early as the 1930s, years before Jackson Pollock made this style of work famous.
Gonzalez’s works have been exhibited around the world, and are held in many museums.
This works was previously in the collection of The National Academy of Design, and The Seattle Art Museum. See exhibition and collection labels in the images.
This work was also exhibited at the Skowhegan School of Paintings and Sculptures show held at the Downtown Gallery in New York city.
Housed in a custom frame from the period.
